I love a good freak show. I was not disappointed.
Really good music, and an assortment of interesting vendors. The jousting skit was a bit cheesy but well done and good fun!
Loved all the costumes. Some people look for any excuse to get their freak on in public, and this was prime time. I saw fairies, elves, Celtic lads and lasses, pages, monks, jesters, pirates, a vampire, even a cat with a B plug-tail! Everyone was in good spirits and seemed to have a good time.
Everything was expensive ($45 to get it) but you pay for the atmosphere and experience. I'll probably return next year.

Calaveras/Sonora Celtic fair which are one and the same. I have loved going to the one in Sonora and have yet to go to the one in Calaveras as it can’t be a good as the one in Sonora as per what I expected reading the comments. The original was always AWESOME as they have EVERYTHING you expect in a Celtic faire.

It is so great to enjoy the Calaveras Celtic Faire again now that it's returned to the Frogtown/Calaveras Fairgrounds. The much bigger footprint means there were a lot more vendors, more stages for music, and crowds weren't compressed on each other. The Pict Village was (for me) new, and an educational experience, and I enjoyed the newly-added Highland Games. I can not put enough stars on the Imperial Knights Jousting event - humorous, audience-engaging, some serious fighting between the knights... and all for the benefit of horses which are rescues. Overall, such a positive energy - and a wonderful 'escape' from the world. Can't wait until 2026!

We attended the festival for the past two years and had a great time. Last year, despite the deluge, a group of hearty souls gutted it out. By contrast, it was great to see a full line up this year with the sunny weather. The presentations by the numerous historical representation groups is our favorite area. The jousting and mock individual combat were fun. Of course, the music was lively.

Went to this with my adult daughter and a friend in 2023. We all enjoyed it and plan to attend again in 2024. If you are thinking of a Faire like with carnival rides and such, that’s not what this is. It is more like a folk gathering with great Celtic musical performances, historical Celtic clans info, Irish whiskey tasting, Celtic cooking, jousting, and some crazy to see wild hand to hand combat with axes and mace between contestants in armor. Overall the event It’s pretty low key and not overly crowded.

This Celtic fair is a pathetic money-grab. At $42 (cash only) per ticket plus the "convenient" $5 dollar atm out front, it seemed like a money laundering scheme. I will assure you, little to no money was spent on the production of this event. Food lines were long, beer lines were long. Games were pathetic. I have been to Celtic fairs in the past, this one is very low budget from the folks that put it on and not worth your time or money.
